Categories & Money Prizes

While awards are often seen as subjective—or even as incompatible with the nature of cinema—the Film Olympiad Medals carry a deeper symbolic value, reflecting traditions that date back to ancient times, when artistic achievement was celebrated in public contests.

With 30 categories we are able to recognise outstanding achievement across all facets of filmmaking, including directing, writing, technical craft, and acting.

We are proud of all our winners, coming from 106 countries, regardless of budget or genre.

Among the Film Olympiad Medal winners & nominees, there are many internationally acclaimed actors, such as Academy Award winner Zoe Saldaña, and Oscar nominees Colman Domingo & Lily Gladstone, international directors such as Farah Nabulsi and Bogdan Muresanu, and Hollywood legends such as Kevin Bacon.

Medals & Nominations

• Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals, plus three additional nominees, across 30 categories.

Money Prizes 

Being among the few festivals with cash money prizes, the Film Olympiad will distribute over €2,000 in cash awards across six categories, with plans to increase the amounts in the future.

• Grand Prix: €100 for the Grand Prix Gold Medalist in Best Short Film.

• Annual Awards (2026):

  €500 for Best Short Film (Gold Medalist).

  €200 for the Audience Award (Gold Medalist).

  €200 each for Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Acting.

  200 for the Best Greek Film.

Over €20,000 in services annually, including:
